This special event is all about bringing leading experts, passionate conservationists and stakeholders together to share ideas, learn from each other and spark new innovations in Atlantic salmon conservation.

There will be space available for organizations who wish to share projects or research that highlights how collaboration and partnership has contributed to the success of their work and conservation of wild Atlantic salmon.

Our Keynote Speaker: Marshall Button

We are very excited to announce our great fortune to have the legendary New Brunswick actor, director and playwright, Marshall Button as our keynote speaker. Marshall will employ his estimable talents to challenge attendees to adopt a tone of collaboration and partnership for the Symposium.

Marshall Button – Actor, Director, Playwright

Marshall Button is currently Artist-in-Residence at Moncton’s Capitol Theatre, president and co-founder of The HubCap Comedy Festival, and has been a freelance theatre professional for more than 44 years. He is best known for his creation Lucien, which premiered at Theatre New Brunswick in 1986. The five full-length Lucien plays have been performed more than 2,500 times internationally and in every Canadian province

Marshall founded The Comedy Asylum in 1981 and served as its artistic director until 1986. He was artistic director of The Upper Canada Playhouse in Morrisburg, Ontario from 1987 to 1996.

In 1997 he founded The Capitol School Academy —a year-round bilingual theatre training program for children and adults.

Marshall co-founded The HubCap Comedy Festival in 2001. Its mandate is to feature and develop Canadian professional comedy. The bilingual festival has evolved into a major cultural event in Southeastern New Brunswick.

Among his may awards are The Order of New Brunswick, The Order of Moncton and honorary doctorate from St Thomas University.

Marshall and his wife Patricia have three grown children, Hanna, Jacob and Thea and are the proud grandparents of Sebastien, Alex, Emmilou and Moira.
